Hillingdon YAP
Hillingdon’s Youth Awareness Programme (YAP) is ayoung persons service offered by practitioners with drug and alcohol expertise and youth specialist knowledge. The service identifies vulnerable young people and intervenes at an early stage providing interventions and support that is concerned with the reduction of risks and vulnerabilities, of reintegration and the retention of contact with young people into mainstream services.
We also provide nationally recognized Qualifications in Digital Music Production and Substance Misuse Education.
Hillingdon’s YAP is part of In-volve, an organisation with extensive experience that has been delivering innovative programmes of accredited training and support to young people across the country over the last 19 years. The HYAP project is based within Harlington Young People’s Centre, Harlington Middlesex.
Rather than being drug specific, the project seeks to address the needs of young people in a holistic manner, concentrating on the fundamental question of ‘who they are’ rather than ‘what they do’. With this is mind it is the focus of the service to enable y/p to make informed decisions about their future and the community they live in with the emphasis on education crime reduction and substance misuse.
